    Description

    UCSD Health Sciences is a large organization encompassing multiple departments, schools, and programs all dedicated towards fulfilling the Health Sciences missions. The UCSD Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (CMM) is one of two basic science units in the School of Medicine where world-class researchers study fundamental cellular processes and pathways using a variety of techniques from classical genetics and fluorescence microscopy to high throughput genomics, systems biology, and crystallography. Our faculty and staff work on the cutting edge of biology, cutting across fields from basic biochemistry and genetics to genomics, systems biology and stem cell biology.

    The successful candidate will use their skills as a seasoned and experienced pre and post award research administrator to independently prepare and manage research proposals, awards and transactions related to contract and grant management, and maintain contract and grant records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies. Under minimal supervision, the incumbent performs full proposal development, administration, and analytical and strategic reporting for a multi-PI proposal portfolio.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Pre award support for all funding mechanisms and all sponsors
    • Manages proposals and awards of diverse scope
    • Comprehensive post award management including allocation and expense monitoring
    • Supports CMM's annual budget process by providing reports of pending funding and effort

    Requirements:

    • Seven (7) years of related experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related area plus three (3) years of related experience
    • Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities
    • Ability to manage significant volume of transactions
    • Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting
