    Position Summary:

    The position manages and directs the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Accreditation program, requiring specialized knowledge of the program and the associated processes and procedures. The position serves as a manager with program authority in the area of assignment. The position oversees all operations and services provided by staff and assists leadership with strategic planning. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and managing daily operations; compliance development; program policy and procedure design and implementation; and associated business functions. Work also includes marketing the program and defining program goals and objectives. Work may include research in the area of assignment and additional duties outside the scope of the program.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    CALEA accreditation experience

    Key Responsibility:

    Manage CALEA accreditation

    Essential Tasks:
    • Use and manage the PowerDMS software to track accreditation.
    • Review a wide variety of complex and technical issues concerning the Standards and the Accreditation process.
    • Attends Conferences and local Network meetings.
    • Identifies and develops programs and systems for the improvement of agency performance in compliance with applicable accreditation standards.
    • Maintain frequent contact with CALEA Staff.
    • Drafts written directives or completes projects to achieve accreditation objectives.
    • Keeps abreast of the accreditation process, including proposed changes or amendments to the standards, transition policies, or process changes. Evaluate the impact of these changes on the agency.

    • Train all PD personnel on accreditation and ensure that employees are kept up to date with any new changes.
    • Review departmental policies and procedures to ensure they are within the standards and work with department leadership to make changes as needed.
