Purpose:

To provide medication administration for residents inassigned area in a timely manner following all policies and procedures of theMedication Administration guidelines.

Qualifications:

Must be registered on the NAI registry with noallegations of abuse or neglect. Mustsuccessfully complete the state approved training program including competencyevaluation and facility orientation program.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Work under the direction of the Director of Nursing Services
2. Administer medication as directed in the Medication Administration policies and procedures manual except injections, medication given by g-tube, j-tube or nasogastic tubes and IV medications
3. Perform job duties ethically and morally; practice good leadership skills
4. Assume any duties assigned within the bounds of professional certification
5. Continue education by attending workshops, in-service classes and reading literature
6. Perform procedures such as vital signs, giving enemas and suppositories, etc
7. Perform universal precaution and hazardous chemical procedures in order to keep residents and staff safe
8. Be alert to all needs of residents reporting immediately any changes in resident's status to supervisor
9. Performs documentation as required by facility policy
10. Maintain residents' self-respect, personal dignity, and physical safety
11. Report any medication errors immediately
12. Count controlled substance medications, give/take report and follow proper sign-in, sign-off procedures when changing shifts
13. Work consistently and dependably as scheduled following all polices and procedures of the company
14. Communicate with resident, families, friends, and visitors appropriately
