The Department of General Services (DGS) is currently seeking a hardworking and motivated candidate to join the team as an HVAC Refrigeration Maintenance Mechanic.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an HVAC Refrigeration Maintenance Mechanic, you will perform a variety of routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HVAC and refrigeration system components according to a prescribed set of instructions as well as monitoring system operation and performance within DGS owned or managed facilities.

Work also includes responding to requests or alarms during shifts after hours and collaborating with other facility personnel.

You will be expected to access, navigate, and monitor building automation systems including Automated Logic, Johnson Controls, Delta, and Siemens to monitor equipment performance, receive alarm messages, and provide proper notifications.

A supervisor will be available to guide situations that may have a significant impact on operations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7.5-hour per day with a 30-minute lunch, Monday - Friday. Possible shifts include 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• 24/7 Operation & Essential employee - This position is required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration systems, units, and equipment; or
• Completion of a three-year Vo-Tech training program in refrigeration, HVAC, or building automation and six months experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration systems, related digitally controlled equipment, or BA systems; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration equipment.

Special Requirements:

• You must obtain EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification from an approved provider within 6 months of employment.
• You must possess an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

• Two years of experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of HVAC systems.
• Experience utilizing Building Automation Systems for the purposes of monitoring and adjusting HVAC equipment performance.
• Experience troubleshooting chillers, boilers, or automation systems.
• An associates degree in HVAC, Refrigeration, Building Automation Systems, or closely related field.
