    Head Boys Varsity Wrestling Coach, Upper School

    The Woodward Academy Upper School strives to help students fulfill their potential in every facet of their lives. Woodward provides opportunities for students to expand their horizons through academics, the arts, athletics, and community service.
    Our dedicated faculty excels in their respective fields, and provide a stimulating, fun, and challenging environment.

    Whether they are promoting academic excellence or demonstrating personal accountability, the members of the faculty and coaching staff find creative and meaningful ways to communicate with their students.

    The Woodward Academy wrestling team has a long tradition of excellence including numerous state and regional championships.

    The team will compete next year at the Class 5A level in Region 3 of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA).

    This position begins August 1, 2024 and is for the school year. The successful candidate will be a highly experienced teacher and wrestling coach who is energetic, hard-working, and motivated. This individual will work with the Director of Athletics to maintain and improve this very successful program.

    Specific duties include:
    Manages all aspects of the boys' wrestling program including middle school, junior varsity, and varsity teams.

    Schedules practices, contests, arranges travel and transportation, adheres to budgetary guidelines, purchases equipment, and maintains inventory of equipment and supplies.

    Trains all wrestling student athletes to improve their skills.
    Conduct all activities with the highest ethical standards and adhere to all GHSA rules and guidelines.
    Occasionally, chaperone students on overnight trips.

    Required Skills:
    Record of successful high school or college coaching, including success at the state or national level.
    Ability to demonstrate patience while engaging and challenging students.
    Ability to communicate in a highly professional manner and build supportive relationships with students, parents, and administrators.

    Minimum job qualifications:
    Experience coaching wrestling in high school or collegiate level preferred.
    The Head Boys Varsity Wrestling Coach position is an exempt, salaried position. Per GHSA rules, head coaches are required to be a full time employee of the institution they represent. Teaching positions can be found on our school website. EOE.
