    Position Overview:

    The Deli Manager oversees the deli department within a retail grocery store, driving efficiency, sales, and profit margins in alignment with the store's goals.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Maintain customer satisfaction by providing high-quality products and services.
    • Ensure a clean, fresh, and fully stocked sales floor department.
    • Train and supervise deli staff to adhere to procedures and customer service standards.
    • Schedule shifts for proper coverage and provide ongoing feedback, performance evaluations, and training opportunities.
    • Monitor inventory levels, ordering products like meats, cheeses, and prepared salads to maintain a diverse selection.
    • Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
    • Verify that all deli products meet quality and safety standards.
    • Work with suppliers to select high-quality deli products.
    • Oversee the preparation of deli items, including sandwiches, salads, and hot foods.
    • Present deli products attractively and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
    • Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and special requests professionally.
    • Set and achieve sales targets.
    • Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to maximize profitability.
    • Conduct regular safety training for deli staff.
    • Oversee cleaning and maintenance of deli equipment and work areas.
    • Monitor expenses, control waste, and optimize cost effectiveness.
    • Communicate with store management regarding inventory, sales, and issues within the department.
    • Adhere to company safety standards.
    • Perform other duties assigned by leadership.

    Environment:

    • Ability to work in varying temperature-controlled environments.

    Schedule:

    • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    Experience:

    • Preferred: One (1) year of deli management experience or deli sales experience.
    • ServeSafe certification or comparable.

    Skills:

    • Physical abilities: Lift up to 80-85lbs, stand, bend, lift, and twist for up to 90% of your shift.
    • Strong communication skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders.
    • Organizational skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner and prioritize tasks.
    • Working in a team-based environment: Work independently and as a team player to ensure high-quality customer service.
    • Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling.
    • Safety culture: Maintain and drive safety policies, ensuring accountability throughout shifts.

    Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
