    Job Description

    CADC interns, CADCs or LCADCs in NJ are required to provide direct counseling and case management services to patients. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 5a-1:30pm.

    ARS Treatment Centers specialize in outpatient treatment for those suffering from opioid use disorder. We operate in the mid-Atlantic region with one of ten locations providing specialized outpatient medication-assisted treatment.

    The Substance Abuse Counselor will adhere to the vision and mission of ARS Treatment Centers. Key duties include:

    • Assessing assigned clients and developing individualized treatment plans
    • Completing assessments and other required documentation according to policy and procedure
    • Conducting individual counseling sessions with assigned clients
    • Documenting individual counseling sessions with assigned clients in accordance with facility policy and procedures, State regulations, and CARF standards within the established time frame
    • Conducting group therapy sessions on a regular basis as scheduled
    • Documenting individual and group therapy sessions within established time frames and according to policies and procedures
    • Demonstrating thorough knowledge of counseling theory and techniques
    • Demonstrating adequate knowledge of DSM-5
    • Developing and implementing appropriate therapeutic activities and/or programs
    • Addressing issues identified in the treatment plans and focusing on problems that occur
    • Demonstrating a thorough knowledge of group process, mental illness/substance abuse, developmental disabilities, and other designated skill areas
    • Conducting emergency counseling sessions as needed
    • Appropriately de-escalating disruptive or crisis situations
    • Being appropriately available to clients during times of emotional, physical, or life crisis
    • Presenting appropriate client information to the treatment team; participating in team discussion and evaluation of client goals, objectives, and motivations

    To be eligible for this position, you must have a CADC internship, CADC certification, or LCADC certification in NJ. MAT experience is preferred, as well as demonstrated superior clinical skills and the ability to share expertise with others. Additional qualifications include CPR and Basic Life Support training, knowledge of 12-step Recovery Program theory, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
