    Manufacturing Engineer

    Location:
    Chatsworth, CA
    Job Summary
    Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in production.
    What you'll do
    Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods.

    Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

    Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
    Implement the lean manufacturing techniques in order to eliminate the manufacturing wastes.

    Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.

    Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
    Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
    Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
    Monitor and adjust the manufacturing labor standard in QAD to reduce the labor variance.
    Create and update the process routings in QAD
    Create precise work instruction for product assembly in production as directed
    Take initiative and be proactive in problem solving
    Is involved in the manufacturing process on a daily basis.

    This includes set up of production runs and work cells, SMT, reflow ovens, Depanelization machine, burn in room, test cells etc.

    All inclusive.
    Manages related building and facility maintenance with contractors.
    Responsible for maintenance and service of all manufacturing equipment.
    Keep maintenance records of all equipment up to date. Write new procedures along with the QA manager.

    Work well in teams formed to resolve Quality issues, make continuous improvement, improve procedures & work-instructions in co-ordination with QA dept.

    Support the head of manufacturing and supervisors for their technical engineering needs with plant and equipment.
    Other duties as assigned.
    What would be useful
    It would be useful and advantageous for the candidate to have experience in or knowledge of:
    Manufacturing software, QAD, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio). AutoCAD is a plus.
    Equivalent electrical or mechanical engineering experience. PCB and MRT knowledge. TL9000 and Safety awareness.
    What we're looking for
    The successful candidate will have experience in or knowledge of:
    Electronic Manufacturing especially Surface Mount and Through-hole processes. Capability to identify and troubleshoot soldering defects and resolve process issues.
    PCBA manufacturing and box build
    Wave solder process and being able to identify defects and resolve process issues and minimize defects
    SMT machines (Stencil printer, Pick & Place, Reflow oven, AOI, etc.)
    Ability to generate reflow oven profiles for mixed assembly products by using Thermal Profiling software (M.O.L.E.)
    Electro-mechanical assembly process and being able to generate precise manufacturing work instructions for production operators.
    IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001 certified
    ERP system preferably QAD
    ESD compliance and standard (ANSI/ESD S20.20)
    ISO 9001 and TL 9000
    Ability to work closely with others and being able to train operators for various assemblies.
    Ability to maintain and schedule a timely equipment maintenance program.
    Must be hands on (be able to perform minor repairs on SMT lines and other manufacturing equipment's and machines)

    Must Have

    The successful candidate must have:


    Bachelor's degree (B.S) in Manufacturing Engineering from four-year College or university; plus four to six years related experience and/or training.

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
    Mathematical Skills
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    Computer Skills
    Manufacturing software, QAD, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio). AutoCAD is a plus.
