    SPECIFIC JOB DESCRIPTION:
    This position is for a Senior Policy Management Analyst and Writer to support the Washington Headquarters Service (WHS) Immediate Office (IO)
    This position will work directly with the Deputy Director, WHS in the execution of special projects that support the WHS mission to provide a broad range of administrative, management, and common support services across the DoD
    Successful candidates will serve as an honest broker providing robust policy analysis on a broad range of topics and have the demonstrated ability to research, organize, write, and edit staff packages
    This position requires knowledge of responsibilities, functions, and operations of all DoD organizations; demonstrated ability to communicate and work with senior executives across DoD; superior ability to communicate verbally and in writing at the highest levels of government; and the ability to work in a fast paced environments with evolving direction

    Specific skills and experience include:

    • Demonstrated ability to identify root cause problems and recommend innovative solutions.
    • Ability to conduct high level analysis and effectively integrate analyses of a very broad range of highly complex factors, including accurate assessments of the institutional environment in which policy alternatives will be considered, selected, and implemented into the decision-making process.
    • Ability to logically present information and serve as the primary author for official written documents (memos, papers, strategies, etc.) in accordance with the the DoD Manual for Written Correspondence.
    • Use broad experience and technical knowledge to propose solutions to complex business problems.
    • Thorough understanding of DoD, OSD, and WHS objectives coupled with well-developed interpersonal skills sufficient to craft and successfully negotiate consensus positions for highly controversial and contentious issues.
    • Assists in analyzing and developing improvement options for administrative functions to include human resources, budget development and execution, logistics, facilities management, administrative security, and contract management.
    • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Masters degree in a relevant field of study plus at least 12 years experience providing services to senior general/flag officer ranks and/or SES levels within the DoD

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Active Top Secret clearance required at date of hire.
    • Ability to provide on-site support in the Pentagon, Monday through Friday, during core business hours of 8am-4pm
    Potential for telework after an appropriate amount of time supporting the office and upon client approval.


    • Highly proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
    • Professionalism, tact, and experience working with senior DoD leadership
    • Ability to articulate and represent DoD policy positions clearly and persuasively to very senior-level audiences.
    • Experience drafting the highest caliber DoD senior executive decision documents based on detailed reviews and analysis of enterprise-wide issues
