- The Laboratory Assistant specializes in the pre-analytic functions of the clinical laboratory, and performs various testing and processing procedures on patient specimens to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
- Test performance and reporting is defined as specified by CLIA. Job duties include organizing specimen collection requests, specimen transport, specimen processing, testing dispersal, point-of-care testing procedures, and other pre-analytic functions following established standards and practices.
- Utilizes scientific principles as well as technical, procedural, and problem-solving aptitudes for day-to-day laboratory technical operations.
- The Laboratory Assistant supports and assists at the direction of the Medical Laboratory Scientist.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Associate's degree or equivalent credits from a college or technical school OR 1 year laboratory related experience required.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) or Phlebotomist Technician (PBT) from the ASCP preferred.
- Evening Shift: Monday - Friday - 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm
- Occasional holiday as needed
- Full Time; 80 hours every 2 weeks
- $ $24.00 per hour
