    BASIC PURPOSE

    The purpose of the Sales Associate I is to assist The Salvation Army in the operation of the Thrift Store for the Reno Adult Rehabilitation Program. This job description is a broad outline of responsibilities.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Stock, clean, rag out goods, operate the cash register and prepare daily paperwork.
    2. Responsible for keys to open and/or close store.
    3. Responsible for maintaining good customer relations and giving prompt, courteous assistance to all customers.
    4. Answer telephone in a courteous fashion and direct caller to appropriate department.
    5. Ensure store appearance is clean and orderly.
    6. Responsible for janitorial duties: e., cleaning windows, vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, etc. as assigned by management.
    7. Other duties as assigned by Store Manager or Assistant Manager.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
    1. Must be able to handle cash, make change and operate register.
    2. Must be able to take instructions and carry them out without direct supervision.
    3. Knowledge of merchandise preferred.
    4. Previous retail experience a plus.
    5. Good rapport with customers.
    6. Strong ability to utilize high levels of time management and multitasking.
    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
    1. Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
    2. Must be 21 years or older.
    3. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
    2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
    3. Ability to reach overhead.
    4. Ability to operate telephone.
    5. Ability to lift (50) pounds non-continuously.
    6. Ability to operate a computer.
    7. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
    8. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools.
