    OTHER: *Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of statutory hiring rate ($61,270) and Mid-Hudson Adjustment ($1,513). The Mid-Hudson Adjustment ($1,513) is also added to job rate ($77,912).

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    The Senior OTR provides a vital service to the Intellectually Disabled/Developmentally Disabled (ID/DD) population by helping individuals with disabilities participate in activities they wish to be involved in and are necessary for them to do through the use and practice of therapeutic interventions and everyday activities.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    Duties could include but are not limited to:

    · Providing a variety of occupational therapy treatment services to individuals with more complicated occupational therapy needs.

    · Providing clinical supervision and training to Occupational Therapists and/or Occupational Therapy Assistants.

    · Evaluating, planning, and carrying out individual treatment interventions and procedures for their patients based on their needs and treatment goals.

    · Training new Occupational Therapy staff and existing OT staff.

    · Training new employees on topics such as Safe Patient Handling, Dining Skills, Wheelchair Securement, and other occupational therapy topics and responsibilities.

    NOTE: Travel within the five-county catchment area will be required in the performance of the duties of the position. This may include a state-owned vehicle, as available, or the employee's own car. An employee who uses his/her own car will be reimbursed at current negotiated rates.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Candidates must be reachable for appointment from the current Civil Service eligible list


    Transfer Opportunity: Candidates must have one year of permanent service as a Senior Occupational Therapist or in a title deemed appropriate for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law within two salary grades of the Grade 18 level;

    Temporary Appointment:

    For appointment to the Senior Occupational Therapist title, you must be licensed and currently registered to practice as an Occupational Therapist in New York State AND have one year of post licensure occupational therapy experience.
    OR
    Promotion: one year of service as an Occupational Therapist, and possession of a license and current registration as an Occupational Therapist in New York State.

    Open Competitive: possession of a license and current registration as an Occupational Therapist in New York State and one year of post-licensure experience.

    Senior Occupational Therapist is a continuous recruitment examination. Candidates who are not on the eligible list may apply for this position and, if appointed, will receive a temporary appointment.
