    Established in the Blue Ridge foothills of North Carolina in 1963, Leonard Buildings and Truck Accessories is a manufacturer and distributor whose product lines include storage buildings, cargo and utility trailers, truck covers, truck and van accessories, carports, playhouses, chicken coops, and dog houses. We serve our residential, commercial, fleet, and government customers through our 150+ retail store locations in eighteen states, supported by our corporate offices (in Mount Airy, NC, and Cobden, IL), distribution centers, and strategically located manufacturing facilities.

    Job Summary:

    The Distribution Clerk is based at the Leonard Mt. Airy Manufacturing Plant, with operations in the U.S. and has overall responsibility for accurate data entry, efficient inventory control, seamless material handling support, and collaborative communication within the manufacturing plant, ensuring the smooth flow of materials and products for the shed buildings company. This position reports directly to the Supervisor, Distribution, and does not have direct reports.

    Job Responsibilities:
    • Accurately enters and maintains data related to inventory, shipments, and manufacturing processes into the company's database system.
    • Ensures all administrative records are organized, up-to-date, and readily accessible for reference.
    • Provides administrative support to the distribution team, including managing schedules, coordinating meetings, and handling correspondence.
    • Assists in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other documentation as needed.
    • Collaborates with the distribution team to coordinate the administrative aspects of material movement within the manufacturing plant.
    • Facilitates communication between administrative and operational functions for efficient distribution operations.
    • Supports the distribution supervisor in conducting regular cycle counts and inventory audits to reconcile physical inventory with system records.
    • Assists in identifying and resolving discrepancies in collaboration with the distribution team.
    • Assists in administrative tasks related to shipping and receiving processes, such as verifying incoming shipments against purchase orders and processing outgoing shipments.
    • Ensures accurate labeling, packaging, and documentation for all shipments.
    • Collaborates with the distribution team to perform administrative tasks related to visual inspections and quality checks on incoming and outgoing materials and finished products.
    • Reports any discrepancies or quality issues for resolution.
    • Facilitates effective communication within the distribution team and across relevant departments, ensuring timely updates on inventory levels, shipment statuses, and any administrative issues affecting distribution operations.
    • Maintains awareness of safety protocols and guidelines, supporting the distribution team in promoting a safe working environment.
    • Reports any safety concerns or incidents promptly.
    • Actively engages in administrative aspects of identifying opportunities for process improvement within the distribution and inventory management functions.
    • Collaborates with the distribution team to implement administrative enhancements.

    Requirements

    Competencies (skills, knowledge, and abilities):
    • Proven experience in administrative roles, with a focus on data entry and organizational support.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and administrative tasks.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    Education/Experience Requirements:
    • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in administrative or logistics fields are a plus.
    • 1+ Years of experience in administrative roles.

    Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
    • Ability to type on a keyboard.
    • Ability to hear and talk.
    • Ability to move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc.
    • Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer.
    • Requires close vision for computer work and reviewing correspondence.
    • Work is performed in a controlled office, with noise levels within acceptable safety levels, paper dust, etc.
    • Ability to work in various weather conditions, such as extreme heat or cold, in a manufacturing plant environment.
