Position Summary
The Assistant Warehouse Manager - Night carefully manages staff work assignments, the efficient loading and routing of trucks, accurate tracking and timely flow of products. Maintains an organized work environment and standards of health, safety, and hygiene.
Essential Functions
- The Assistant Warehouse Manager - Night, is an important member of the organization, working to support a cohesive, well-informed team to achieve the company's mission and financial goals.
- Identify and stop waste while working with the Warehouse Manager - Night to generate improvement initiatives to optimize warehouse operations and reduce costs.
- Plan work activities and assign tasks appropriately.
- Orient and coach employees.
- Ensure staff maintains a level of professionalism and competency through ongoing development.
- Provide an atmosphere of open and honest communication while maintaining a positive work environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise truck loading.
- Monitor availability of trucks in docks to be loaded.
- Input "will calls" into the computer so Packers can assemble the orders.
- Identify "will call" shorts.
- Assign checking of Frozen and Dry products.
- Check in later returning drivers.
- Assist with invoice organization and driver clipboard preparation
- Throughout the shift confirm/deny shortages and availability of products in stock with Checkers.
- Verify attendance of all employees.
- Communicate with Warehouse Maintenance Manager/Mechanic regarding any equipment that is broken or in need of repair including trucks, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
- Confirm that all drivers are in the appropriate trucks assigned to them.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Five or more years of experience in wholesale foods and distribution
- Ability to work well with co-workers at all levels of the company.
- Consistent follow-up to ensure positive outcomes.
- Highly-organized.
- Self motivated.
- Proactively maintaining an awareness of internal and external customer needs and providing consistent and timely support.
- Excellent time management and ability to prioritize work.
- Strong Active Listening skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Adept at problem solving.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Attention to details and problem solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
