    Job Description:


    The Women's and Infants service line at JohnPeter Smith Hospital is a robust multidisciplinary team of physicians andadvanced practice professionals who are dedicated to meeting the completehealth care needs of women in our community.

    We provide services and supportfor women at every stage of life, including but not limited to preventativehealth care, low and high risk prenatal/childbirth/postnatal care, menopausecare, urogynecology, and gynecologic oncology evaluation and treatment.

    Our physicians provide 24 hour in houseinpatient hospital coverage and we deliver and average of 4,000 babies a year.


    OurAdvanced Practice Provider group consists of trusted and experienced nursepractitioners and certified nurse midwives who are committed to providingexcellent health care to women and to ensuring that every child has the bestpossible start in life.

    They work in concert with our Physicians on a dailybasis and are highly regarded by our patients and their families for theconfidence they engender and the relationships they foster throughattentiveness, responsiveness, and meaningful communication.

    Position Details

    Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
    Well woman, problem gynecology and obstetrics
    Diverse patient population with complicated conditions


    Duties and Essential Job Functions:

    • Collaborates with the physician in overseeing and coordinating the multidisciplinary care delivered to all patients, to optimize quality patient care.
    • Reviews patient medical charts to assist physician with diagnosis, treatment and care management.
    • Makes appropriate patient referrals as necessary.
    • Monitors guidelines for the management of care and for ensuring that the services are delivered in compliance with the guidelines established by JPS Health Network and Acclaim Physician Group.
    • Provides care education to patients and families.
    • Provides evidence-based and compassionate care to all patients as assigned to improve patient outcomes and increase patient satisfaction scores.
    • Maintains a collaborative environment with providers, clinical staff, and support staff.
    • Supports academic, educational and research endeavors.
    • Attends Performance Improvement Programs and Peer Review committee meetings; and is an active participant in the process.
    • Serves as a resource to the community.
    • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Required Education and Experience:


    • 1-2 years of experience as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner or Certified Nurse Midwife required
    • Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
    • Graduate of an accredited Women's Health Nurse Practitioner program

    OR

    • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Midwife program
    Required Licensure/Certifications:


    • Current and unencumbered licensure as and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of Texas and another state.

    AND

    • Current national certification as Certified Nurse Midwife by American Midwifery Certification Board
      OR(AMCB) or American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) Certification Council.
