Job Summary of the
Manufacturing Engineer:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing new processes for the production of existing products.
They are also responsible for designing and fabricating test fixtures, as well as designing, developing, and/or purchasing equipment to ensure the production of a quality and cost-effective product.
The role includes the design, redesign, layout, and engineering of tooling, equipment, and machinery. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer monitors project completion schedules and provides accurate cost estimates for product quotation requests. Troubleshooting machinery to ensure cost-effective production of high-quality products is also a key responsibility.Qualifications of
Manufacturing Engineer:
Technical expertise in areas such as material strength, manufacturing processes, OSHA standards, electrical/pneumatic controls, fluid power, and tool/fixture design and construction.
Strong relationship-building skills with vendors and suppliers of manufacturing equipment.
Ability to write and update processes to ensure proper methods of manufacturing.
Experience in assisting with product design of new and existing manufacturing processes and methods.
Ability to provide training on the operation and preventative maintenance of installed equipment.
Responsibilities of the
Manufacturing Engineer:
Technical expertise in assembly processes, including automatic assembly technology, PLC integration/programming, lean principles, vision detection/programming, and value stream mapping.
Designing and overseeing the installation of production tools, fixtures, jigs, and workstations to enhance safety, efficiency, reliability, and profitability while ensuring compliance with design and material specifications.
Project management to ensure projects are completed within established budgets.Monitoring and ensuring compliance with government requirements (EPA, OSHA, etc.) related to manufacturing systems and stations.
Providing input on costs for cost-reduced products and setting manufacturing standards for existing processes.
Determining the feasibility of production projects through calculations to optimize labor and material utilization while maintaining product quality.
Designing and overseeing the installation of equipment and systems to improve efficiency and profitability.
Maintaining manufacturing-related documentation, including blueprints, BOM's, routings, databases, machine programs, and APQP documentation.
Utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve efficiency and profitability.
Programming programmable controllers/machines used in manufacturing processes, such as PLCs, robots, CNC machines, and inspection equipment.
Supporting the continual improvement and compliance of QMS and EMS.Managing projects to ensure goals are met regarding scope, budget, and schedule.
Writing procedures and training plant personnel on the operation of newly installed or modified equipment.Ensuring department production processes meet goals for safety, efficiency, reliability, and capability.
