- Associates degree
- You must be enrolled in a BSN or MSN program from an accredited school of professional nursing and graduate on or before the third employment anniversary date into a nursing position.

- Grandfathered Exemption of Educational Requirement:
- Hired on or before June 1, IMC
- Hired on or before August 4, IMCW
- A minimum of two years of nursing experience is required, which can be obtained in one or a combination of the following areas: critical care transport, prehospital basic/advanced life support, critical care, and/or emergency department nursing.
- Must possess RN-EMT or be eligible for certification within the 100 day probationary period or certified as a mobile intensive care registered nurse (MICN), as indicated by N.J.A.C. 8:41.
- Coaching Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) within the 100 day probationary period is required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS),
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Emergency Care for the Pre-hospital Provider-Advanced (PEPP-A).
- Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) within the probationary period is required for MICN certification. Incident Command 100/200/700/800 required within the 100 day probationary period.
- Candidates must possess a valid driver's license.
- Candidates with CEN, CCRN will be preferred.
