    Description

    The Health Manager ensures that children and families in our program have resources and services for the healthy development of children, to ensure staff implementation of prevention and early intervention practices related to health, safety and nutrition, to oversee the delivery of health and nutrition services within the program, and comply with health, safety and nutrition components of EHS/HS performance standards and California Department of Education standards.
    Primary Responsibilities Include:

    • Ensures that all children have access to health insurance and continuous health and oral health care, including access to a medical and dental home provider for medical and dental services.
    • Monitor children's health status throughout the year to ensure that children are up to date according to the Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSTD) schedule and up to date on all recommended immunizations.
    • Ensure that all children enrolled in the program have all appropriate health screenings including vision and hearing screenings.
    • Prepares Annual Immunization Report for submitting to the San Francisco Public Health Department.
    • Maintains collaborative partnerships with health care partners in the community to ensure that the health and oral health care needs of children are addressed.
    • Arranges all on site community partner health activities for children, including coordinating visits from student nurses and oral health site visits from oral health providers in accordance with activities specified in Memorandums of Understanding.
    • Monitors all incoming Health and Oral health documentation from sites and program options through the CD Health email system.
    • Ensures that all incoming health and Oral health data is entered into Child Plus data base daily.
    • Reviews or delegates the review of all newly selected children to ensure that all pre-enrollment health requirements are in place and informs enrollment staff, and center staff when a child's health requirements are cleared to start.
    • Consults with staff as needed to facilitate pending health requirements and communicates with health providers as needed to resolve health status issues.
    • Oversees implementation and compliance for USDA Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) program activities.
    • Serve as the main agency contact for Child Nutrition Information Payment Systems (CNIPS). Enter all reimbursement information required for reimbursement.
    • Works in collaboration with Enrollment Specialists to collect CACFP eligibility Meal Benefit forms for the Non-Head Start/Early Start Children..
    • Reviews and classified all Eligibility determination status for non-Head Start/Early Head Start families for CACFP Meal Benefit categories.
    • Ensures that all newly selected children are connected to the contracted food vendor to begin receiving meals upon entry.
    • Communicates with the food vendor to make arrangements for all special diets or meals modifications needed for children.
    • Monitors meal counts of all classrooms to ensure that meals are counted at the point of service and that documentation and recordkeeping is occurring for proper CACFP meal reimbursement.
    • Monitors meal counts in the Care Connect system to ensure that the proper payment is made to the contracted food vendor and reviews all invoices for food services.
    • Prepares meal reimbursement report for the Fiscal Department.
    • Monitors classroom for health and safety compliance.
    • Reviews Injury/Accident reports submitted by Center Managers to give recommendations or additional trainings as needed for enhancing safety practices.
    • Trains all new teaching staff in monthly Comprehensive Services training.
    • Trains all new Family Service Specialist and Home Visitors staff on health requirements.
    • Conducts annual health and safety refreshers for all staff at annual Pre-service training and provides training refreshers trainings as needed for sites and program options.
    • Ensures program compliance with Wu Yee Health Safety policies, Community Care Licensing safety regulations, as well as Head Start Performance Standards as it relates to health, safety and nutrition.
    • Prepares health and nutrition service area for all program audits, including Head Start Federal Reviews and CACFP program audits. Serve as the main lead staff for addressing all audit questions in audit interview.
    • Collaborate with and do outreach to health services agencies for form formal and informal partnerships to meet the needs of the families and children in the program.
    • Collaborate with two other San Francisco Head Start programs to conduct the Health Mental Health Services Advisory Committee twice a year.
    • Provide Supervision for Health Coordinator and Health Specialist
    • Participate in all Manage Team meetings and activities
    • Develop all Policies and Procedures for Health/Nutrition and Safety requirements and update as needed.
    • Design and implement effective nutrition training for staff and parents; Train staff on food service and monthly reporting policies and procedures as needed; Provide staff and parents with information on oral health and nutricion resources in the community.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Education and Experience Required:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health or Community Health required. Masters' degree in Public Health preferred.
    • At least 2 yearsof proven experience managing a health program supporting children, families, newborns and infants.
    • At least 2 years of Supervisory experience, managing motivating and developing staff, or coordinating a health program.

    • Often required to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat or crawl.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in case of emergency a 40 pound child.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    Benefits & Compensation:
    • The pay range for this position is $80,000 - $108,139. A new hire generally starts between $80,000 and $90,673. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skills sets, relevant experience, internal equity, and other business and organizational needs
