    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Senior Manager, Blood Portfolio Marketing leads promotional initiatives and strategic campaigns focused on author and reviewer engagement, awareness, and readership growth for the Blood Journals and develops the strategic vision for the Blood Podcast program, as well as the Blood Journals social media program ensuring the Blood journals prominent position in the hematology community.

    The Senior Manager, Blood Portfolio Marketing works closely with editorial, digital and production teams to execute marketing campaigns, create impactful content, and analyze market trends. The position is responsible for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve editorial and business goals and is a crucial role for promoting the Blood Journals and driving the portfolios' success in the market. The Senior Manager, Blood Portfolio Marketing stays abreast of the evolving publishing landscape and works to position the portfolio as leaders in hematology. Additionally, the Senior Manager assists the Deputy Director with drafting the Blood Portfolio Marketing budget and reviewing ASH quarterly financial statement for marketing expenses.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Blood Portfolio Marketing

    • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with the Blood Journals to enhance brand awareness, increase submissions, improve email subscription rates, and expand our ASH's footprint for scholarly peer-reviewed journals.
    • Oversee the development and implementation of author targeted marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including digital, print, and social media, to reach new potential authors, reviewers, and readers for the Blood Journals.
    • Analyze industry trends to identify emerging opportunities and inform strategic marketing decisions for the Blood Journals portfolio.
    • Collaborate closely with the publications editorial and digital teams, and ASH Communication Department to ensure alignment of marketing efforts with overall strategic goals.
    • Liaison with Communications Department to ensure synchronization of BloodJournals email campaigns served through Salesforce Marketing Cloud with overall ASH deployments and objectives.
    • Liaison to Elsevier marketing team; assist in retrieval of ASH materials for Elsevier campaigns and coordinates with ASH editorial teams and Communication Department as needed.
    • Stay abreast of evolving trends and technologies in the scholarly publishing industry to adapt and enhance marketing strategies.
    • Develop marketing copy, including text and creative material, for social media, website promotion, newsletters, and other distribution methods to position the Blood Journals as leaders in hematology.
    • Responsible for drafting the Blood Portfolio Marketing budget and for supporting the Deputy Director, Publications with monthly reviews of Blood Journal marketing expenses.
    • Responsible for Blood Portfolio Marketing at the ASH Annual Meeting.

    Manage Blood Portfolio multimedia development

    • Blood Podcast vendor relationships, handle contract negotiations (medical writers, narrators, etc.) and maintain contacts within multimedia development talent pools.
    • recording, editing, and production of multimedia content forBloodJournals.
    • relevant knowledge of best practices in podcast development, programming, and dissemination.
    • Interface with multimedia vendors to schedule, plan, and produce original video, animation, and audio content e.g., Blood Review Series Videos.

    Direct the Digital Publications Specialist in delivering the Blood Podcast program e.g., interface with special section editors, coordinate with production vendor, publish episodes, and provide usage reports.

    Blood Portfolio Social Media Programs

    • theBlood Journals social media program and initiatives.
    • theBlood Journals social media collaboration with ASH Communications.
    • with Digital Publications Specialist content posting and coverage of the social media channels.

    Collaborates with department leadership to develop social media strategy across publications.

    Maintains knowledge of social media programs among competing publications and best practices.

    Management & Supervision

    Supervises the Digital Publication Specialist.

    Motivates staff and monitors performance to ensure the productivity of the staff.

    Carries-out performance evaluations in a timely fashion.

    QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE SKILL REQUIRED

    • Bachelor's degree in English, marketing, science, or related field with a minimum of 7 years of related experience preferably in subscription fulfillment and implementing marketing plans.
    • Understanding of the scholarly article publishing process, including guidelines related to research misconduct.
    • Experience mentoring and supervising or otherwise supporting the professional growth and development of junior colleagues.
    • High level of computer literacy, including knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or equivalent software; general knowledge of HTML and XML a plus.
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines, as well as sound judgment and strong decision-making skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel) and Internet required.
    • Strong interpersonal skills including professionalism and ability to work well with ASH staff and ASH leadership.
    • Strong customer service orientation.
