    Job Description

    Gilead's mission is to discover, develop, and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide. We are recruiting a Senior Director U.S. Oncology Strategy & Operations.

    The Senior Director U.S. Oncology Strat & Ops will report to the VP, Oncology BU Head, responsible for driving operational excellence and efficiency across the Oncology BU. They will lead a team focused on delivering with speed and quality across key pan-tumor initiatives supporting the business. The group will lead the commercial aspects of US presence at Tier 1&2 congresses, local advocacy event planning & field communication coordination, Peer-to-Peer [P2P] pan-tumor operations & strategy, and centralized processing of BU marketing work orders. They will take on key franchise-level strategic initiatives and partner to refine existing processes, systems, and ways of working to help us deliver for more patients through increased efficiency. This leader will also lead our Gilead efforts around coordination with our Kite colleagues.

    Deliver operational excellence:

    • Effectively build, lead, and develop the team to maximize Gilead Oncology impact through the delivery of efficient centralized operations
    • In partnership with the Global Congress Center Of Excellence [CCOE], Commercial Operations teams, and Brand, deliver outstanding US presence and impact at key Tier 1 & 2 congresses (including aHCP-focused mtgs)
    • Lead the strategic allocation of resources to optimally partner with the Gilead Oncology Advocacy team and patient advocacy organizations to compliantly support local advocacy events, sponsorships, and appreciation events to support the business.
    • Lead coordination and execution of field communications, including FDMs, G.Field postings, & key all-field meetings
    • Drive efficient P2P operations, including identification, contracting, and training of speakers while partnering with Brand to strategically assess resource allocation across P2P channels to optimize the business.
    • Represent Oncology Operations as a critical member of the core Oncology Leadership Team.
    • Identify & diagnose inefficiencies within Oncology BU operations and partner cross-functionally to strategically address
    • Ensure efficient and effective centralized processing of Marketing work orders across the BU
    • Lead Gilead Oncology partnership with our Kite colleagues to identify and seize joint opportunities for impact & efficiency
    • Communicate ideas easily and effectively amongst colleagues, cross-functional stakeholders, and senior leadership.
    • Partner with GCPS, MM Onc, Medical and other cross-functional stakeholders as necessary to identify and implement solutions as One Oncology team

    Operational KPIs:

    • Define and track performance regularly to inform decisions and actions to take
    • Align with cross-functional partners on key strategic initiatives to launch in the short-term and long term
    • Optimize initiatives based on metrics with tangible action items that tie back to the overall franchise strategy

    Leadership:

    • Highly regarded as an internal thought leader, proactively identifying and developing solutions to bring continual innovation to Gilead
    • Lead budget management for Onc Strategy & Operations (including Congress & Speaker budgets)
    • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities and deliver solutions for Gilead Oncology
    • Lead effectively across the One Oncology team

    Basic Qualifications:

    Bachelor's Degree and Fourteen Years' Experience

    OR

    Masters' Degree and Twelve Years' Experience

    OR

    PhD and Twelve Years' Experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 8 years Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry experience, with a focus on oncology
    • Proven leadership in the oncology pharmaceutical space.
    • Demonstrated excellence in project management, including planning, prioritization, execution, analytical assessment, and performance management
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders
    • Advanced communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate both orally and written
    • Demonstrate an understanding of the oncology pharmaceutical regulatory and legal requirements and their impact on developing marketing materials.
    • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
    • Strong ability to identify problems and proactively make logical recommendations
    • Listens carefully to other points of view and can adapt style and content based on audience

    The salary range for this position is: $248, $321, Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
