    Job Summary

    A Special Investigations Unit (SIU) Analyst within an insurance company plays a crucial role in identifying and investigating potentially fraudulent activities related to insurance claims.

    The Analyst works closely with various departments within the company and external entities to gather evidence, analyze data, and make recommendations for further action.

    This role requires critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to piece together disparate bits of information to reveal the truth. The Analyst is responsible for the analytical review of data from suspect claims, utilizing various investigative methods and techniques. The Analyst must evaluate relevant information essential in resolving complex investigations.

    Job Responsibilities

    · Supports Claims Department operations in the research and investigation of suspicious or questionable property damage and injury claims

    · Data Analysis

    · Evidence Collection

    · Claims Investigation to include but not limited to statements, EUO's, report findings

    · Provides office training to ensure recognition of potentially suspicious or fraudulent files in the branch

    · Must ensure compliance with industry and company policies

    · Must understand regulatory / statutory requirements; develops and maintains knowledge of changes in law both at state and national levels

    · Properly utilizes our claims and other various systems

    · Attends industry meetings for identifying industry trends

    · Completes individual weekly Investigator report to manager

    · Attends and participates in team meetings, roundtables

    · Actively affiliates and maintains network of SIU, claims, law enforcement, attorney, and related contacts to ensure investigation methods are current and proper operating procedures are utilized

    · Responsible for meeting individual goals and objectives

    · Maintains consistent, fair, and diplomatic interactions with co-workers

    · Performs other duties as assigned

    Formal Education & Certification


    • Bachelor's degree


    • Previous experience in insurance claims investigation, fraud detection, or law enforcement.


    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify patterns.


    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.


    • Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.


    • Proficiency in relevant software applications for data analysis and documentation.


    • Knowledge of insurance laws, regulations, and industry standards related to fraud investigation.


    • Professional certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator (CIFI) may be advantageous.


    • Knowledge in medical terminology, medical billing, CMS 1500 forms helpful


    • Georgia Insurance Adjusters License required within 90 days of employment

    Experience

    Prior SIU Analyst or equivalent experience preferred, or prior SIU Investigator experience with analytics background.

    Numerical Proficiency: Comfort with numbers and mathematical concepts is essential for calculating insurance premiums, analyzing financial data, and assessing risk exposures. Proficiency in spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel) is often required for data manipulation and modeling.
