    LS Technologies is looking for a Sr. Systems Engineer Architect to help craft the vision for a major FAA system modernization effort. Individual should have a strong background in requirements development/management, development of operational concepts and system architecture. He or she will provide analysis and definition of operational, functional, and system requirements for current Flight Management system operations in the as-is environment and be capable of supporting the re-architecture of those capabilities in a future or to-be environment with emerging technologies such as Cloud (on-premises, off-premises, or hybrid).

    Responsibilities:

    • FAA experience required.
    • Document legacy aeronautical information management systems with emphasis on data models, process flows, and operational concepts.
    • Analyze system capabilities, shortfalls, as well as recommend improvements to the system as well as processes.
    • Derive requirements from existing legacy systems and documentation that support a refactored, modernized system.
    • Provide SME input to design documents and presentations, execute analysis of alternatives when required.
    • Writing and reviewing system documentation such as ConOps, Requirements Specifications, System Architectures, Shortfall Analysis, Application Programming Interface (API) Specifications, V&V Evaluation Reports, etc.
    • Facilitate technical discussions with various audiences (executive, management, and financial).
    • Experience developing and or supporting Enterprise Infrastructure Service Assessments (EIS).
    • Experience supporting FAA Safety Risk Management Panels (SRM).
    • Experience supporting and or developing white papers on technical subjects as applicable.
    • Experience support and or developing Enterprise Architecture (EA) products (OVs, SVs, Avs).

    Education

    Master of Science degree in an Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or related discipline with 11 years of experience. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field with 15+ years' experience could be substituted.

    Qualifications

    • Able to succeed in a fast-paced team environment: master new information quickly, respond to direction shifts, manage knowns and unknowns, work with various types of colleagues (technical, management, operations, etc.).
    • Past experience in legacy system modernization efforts is a plus.
    • Proven interpersonal skills. Ability to work with system end users to understand their business needs, documenting those needs such that business capabilities are clearly articulated in support of legacy migration.
    • Experience in UML, BPMN, Tableau and other Model Based Design notations preferred.
    • Understanding of XML schemas and system data element decomposition.
    • A strong candidate will have basic cloud computing experience which may include security, automation, user experience and native cloud services.
    • Excellent writing, oral communication, and organizational skills.
    • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and other Microsoft enterprise tools.

    Salary at LST is determined by a wide array of factors, such as (but not limited to) education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws.
