- Connect individuals with community support services.
- Teach coping skills to individuals and their families.
- Assist with benefit applications.
- Offer crisis support post-hospitalization or incarceration.
- Accompany individuals to appointments and court appearances.
- Engage individuals in formal recovery support services.
- Educate on various recovery methods.
- Help individuals set recovery goals based on personal experiences.
- Assist in developing Wellness Recovery Action Plans.
- Refer individuals to valuable community resources.
- Teach problem-solving techniques.
- Discuss strategies to overcome common obstacles.
- Provide guidance on preventing relapses.
- Model coping mechanisms and empowerment skills.
- Contribute to program committees.
- Represent the agency in the community.
- Perform quality assurance tasks.
- Additional assigned duties.
- High School Diploma or Equivalency required.
- Health or Human Service experience preferred.
- Empathy and understanding based on personal experiences.
- Valid NYS Driver's License.

About the Role:
Join our team at Helio Health as a Peer Specialist/Certified Recovery Peer Advocate to assist individuals in their recovery journey from substance use and mental health disorders, fostering independence in their communities, and enhancing overall well-being.
Overview
Helio Health is dedicated to supporting individuals dealing with substance use and mental health challenges. As a Peer Specialist, you will operate on a per diem basis within the ICSC Program.
Pay rate: $23.88 per hour.
