- Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments, procedures, and special tests, and documents treatment as per company policy and regulations.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions.
- Assesses and evaluates patient needs and responses to care provided.
- Applies sound nursing judgment in patient care decisions.
- Provides primary and emergency care for both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Administers medications as prescribed.
- Collaborates with the nursing team to develop a comprehensive Plan of Care for all patients.
- Directs and mentors ancillary staff to maintain professional nursing standards.

Join the vibrant team in the Albany Medical Center Critical Care Float Pool today! This is a great opportunity to enhance and practice critical care skills in various areas including Neuro-Surgical Trauma ICU, Medical ICU, Coronary Care Unit, Cardiovascular ICU, and the MSICU - our intermediate care ICU.
RNs in the Critical Care Float pool also have the chance to acquire additional competencies in Emergency Department care and neuro-progressive care zones.
You will be able to work across all Critical Care areas at the only Level I trauma center in the region. Don't miss out on the chance to be part of this dynamic and highly skilled Nursing team today!
The Clinical Nurse plays a key role in fostering a compassionate and supportive environment for patients, families, and colleagues by showing kindness and active listening. They acknowledge the value of each employee's contribution to the Mission's success.
Requirements for the role include being a graduate of a nursing program with a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree, current NYS Registered Nurse license, certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and a minimum of 1-3 years of prior clinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care. Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational, and time-management skills are essential along with a good grasp of quality concepts and problem-solving techniques.
