    Description:The Motor Vehicle Mechanic diagnoses, troubleshoots, repairs, rebuilds, and overhauls components and assemblies of standard and non-standard tactical vehicles.


    Daily tasks including the following:

    Diagnosing and troubleshooting the source of unscheduled maintenance repairs required, performing Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS), performing authorized modifications and fabrication repairs, performing repairs and/or replacement of all components within the powertrain, drivetrain, suspension, electrical, HVAC, pneumatic, braking, cooling, fuel, and body systems.

    In general, the work of a Motor Vehicle Mechanic requires a combination of training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship, relevant military experience, or equivalent.


    Relevant military experience includes a familiarity with the following TACOM-supported equipment: High-Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV), Palletized Loading System (PLS), Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR), Logistics Vehicle System (LVS), All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV), Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTV), Military Motorcycle Replacement (MILMO), Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected Vehicles (MRAP), and the trailer systems for each variant.

    Experience in Heavy Equipment and Utilities (generators and forklifts) is also relevant.


    A FOSOV mechanic understands complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, ventilation and/or instrumentation systems, and uses analytical and investigative methods and techniques to ensure equipment meets required specifications.

    Basic Qualifications:


    Must be capable of being responsible for the QA/QC (Quality Assurance/ Quality Control) inspections of all equipment repaired on-site prior to the equipment being returned to the customer.


    Practical experience in:
    Diesel and gasoline-powered engines, drivetrain assemblies, automotive air-conditioning and cooling systems, automotive electrical systems and components.

    Ability to work independently to diagnose, repair, and service all equipment listed by following technical manual instructions.

    Ability to obtain a secret security clearance, therefore all candidates must be a US Citizen.

    Desired Skills:

    Preferably, is knowledgeable in a variety of domestic and foreign commercial and passenger vehicles.

    Family of Special Operation Vehicles (FOSOV) equipment repair experience.


    Military Vehicle Maintenance Training and Experience: MOS 91B (Army), MOS 3521 (USMC), Construction Mechanic/CM (USN), Mission Generation Vehicular Equipment Maintenance (USAF).

    ASE Certification (Automotive Service Excellence).

    Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

    Clearance Level: Secret

    Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

    Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
