    Intake Specialist Job Responsibilities:
    Provide efficient, interactive intake services for the WHEAP by phone, face-to face or by mall to determine program eligibility.
    Enter program applications into the WHEAP electronic data system timely and accurately.
    Answer phones, schedule appointments, and provide program information to applicants.

    Provide quick, pro-active response to prevent disconnections, adhering to respond within 48hrs from time of request per written crisis policy.

    Will coordinate and perform administrative activities and support by storing, retrieving, and integrating information for dissemination to staff and clients, answers and relays calls and messages, with follow-up to recipient in a professional manner.

    Is required to use a variety of office equipment, such as the fax machines, photocopiers, scanners, and videoconferencing can use several types of telephone systems along with email programs.

    Communicate with vendors regarding the repair and emergency fuel fills.
    Verify earned and unearned income, including wages, child support, TANF, Social Security, Unemployment Insurance, etc.
    Conduct community outreach and provide mobile intake services to community agencies, senior centers, housing/neighborhood centers, etc.
    Conduct home visits as necessary for the elderly, handicapped and disabled.
    Respond to applicant questions, assist with verification, and carry out benefits processing in a timely manner.

    Make referrals to weatherization program for WHEAP participants, when not eligible for WHEAP, make referral for repair or replacement to weatherization or to targeted home performance.

    Work as a team member to make energy assistance program run as efficiently as possible.
    Participate in program awareness events held throughout the community.
    Attend trainings, meeting and perform other duties as assigned.
    Provide efficient, interactive intake services for the LIP (Low Income Pilot) face-to-faceor by mail to determine program eligibility.

    Follow up with client, Agency Solutions, and maintain files for LIP cases separate from WHEAPAttend partnership meetings, health fairs and other community events.

    Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.


    Intake Specialist Job Qualifications:
    Undergraduate degree or an associate degree and/or at least two years of experience with the WHEAP or LHEAP programs.

    Two years' experience in case management or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which would provide the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.

    Ability to work independently within established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
    Strong interpersonal and communication skills, working knowledge of computer programs such as word processing and spreadsheets.
    Able to work flexible and irregular hours including on call evening hours.
    Bilingual in English and Spanish in verbal and written form preferred.
    Must have a car and adequate auto liability insurance and be able to travel and work irregular hours. Demonstrated computer skills, spread sheets and word processing.
    Ability to work flexible schedule as described in the job duties.
