    OVERVIEW: The Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center at Gallaudet University is a federally funded center with exemplary elementary and secondary education programs for deaf and hard of hearing students and is tasked with developing and disseminating innovative curricula, instructional techniques, and products nationwide while providing information, training, and technical assistance for parents and professionals to meet the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students from birth to age 21.

    Summary:
    Reporting to the Director of the Academic Program, the Senior Individualized Education Program (IEP) Coordinator oversees and manages the entire IEP development and meeting process at MSSD, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations pertaining to IEPs, including EDA and the IDEA.

    Job Description:
    • Manages the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process for all MSSD students; assures that the IEP process for students is in full compliance with the Education of the Deaf Act (EDA) and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA); assures that all types of IEP meetings take place in a timely manner according to legal guidelines; and serves as administrative representative for all types of IEP meetings.
    • Monitors all IEP documentation processes by ensuring that appropriate forms are completed according to IDEA requirements, accurate records are kept, and IEP progress reports are completed and sent to parents and guardians in a timely manner; collaborates with other school personnel to meet training and support needs noted during oversight processes; and participates in audits of IEP documents.
    • Collaborates with case managers, school administrators, and other members of IEP teams to conceptualize and develop IEP programming that addresses the needs of all students, including students with additional disabilities.
    • Ensures student needs and goals are identified and developed by utilizing data from assessment results; and collaborates with school personnel to identify and meet training and support needs in the area of using data to develop IEP programming for students.
    • Ensures that copies of student IEP forms are mailed to LEAs; and maintains communication with LEAs, as needed.
    • Monitors regular reviews of student files in the Central File to ensure that IEP documents are maintained.
    • Oversees the scheduling of IEP conferences and timelines for the development of IEPs.
    • Manages the IEP software, which includes keeping up-to-date on regular revisions; serves as a system administrator and maintains contact with the software provider for all technical and access problems and issues; and coordinates and implements teacher/staff training as needed.
    • Coordinates the annual reviews and re-evaluation process for students; and pays attention to risk management issues.
    • Organizes and provides training for teachers, staff, and families on issues related to IEPs and the IEP software system in use.
    • Supervises staff as assigned and evaluates performance on a regular basis.
    • Works to support the Clerc Center mission in alignment with organizational priorities and the Clerc Center Strategic Plan.
    • Establishes and maintains a positive and supportive working relationship with co-workers and supervisors.
    • Demonstrates a genuine commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and participates in activities and workshops to foster continuous learning.
    • Serves as a mandatory Title IX reporter; and takes annual Title IX training as part of the compliance effort.
    • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
    Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree.
    • A minimum of four years of professional experience with case management, training development, or a related field in a K-12 setting.
    • Ability to communicate in American Sign Language.

    • Master's degree.

    • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
