    POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW, The Sandoval Group at Tulane University

    The Sandoval group at Tulane University is seeking applications for a post-doctoral research associate to work on a fast-paced, applied research project funded by the Dept. of Energy's ARPAE ECOSYNBIO program aimed at bioenergy production through consumption of carbon dioxide. A description of the project can be found here. The postdoctoral researcher working in the Sandoval lab will conduct and coordinate experiments, serve as mentor to graduate students and undergraduate students involved in the project, attend regularly scheduled meetings, aid in the preparation of quarterly reports, and aid in the maintenance of essential laboratory equipment. The position is for 1 year, starting 1/23/23 with the potential for renewal dependent on performance and funding.


    Qualifications:

    Candidates for this position are expected to hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, or closely related fields. Excellent organization, written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills are required. Applicants should be able to independently perform experimentation with mesophilic Clostridium including the ability to acquire, analyze, and interpret data using a range of analytical tools. Applicants should be able to communicate findings in written reports, journal articles, and oral presentations. Experience with Clostridium cell culturing, next generation sequencing preparation and data interpretation, cloning, liquid chromatography, and standard molecular biology techniques are strongly encouraged.
