    Overview
    We're looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team

    As part of our goal to create and support the best community association management software, our company offers accounting solutions for clients.

    In this role you will be assisting with client financials. We have 300 accounts and each accountant manages between 35-45, some of which take very little time each month. You'll communicate with clients at all levels of financial literacy, primarily through email, but also over the phone.

    The team culture is close-knit and personal. This role is in-office, with a staff of 10, based in Mission Viejo, CA (an hour outside LA).

    What you'll do

    • Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements and produce budget on schedule

    • Summarize current financial status and recommend financial actions for clients

    • Prepare and recommend accounting controls policies and procedures

    • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile transactions and financial discrepancies

    • Develop and document business processes and complete database backups

    • Guide accounting clerical staff and support month-end and year-end close process

    • Provide troubleshooting and second-level escalation as needed
    You should have

    • Required: Bachelor's degree in accounting/appropriate field of study or comparable work experience

    • Required: Two years' work experience (bonus if it's in the community management or HOA space)

    • Required: Experience with creating financial statements, general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process

    • Flexibility and good time management to manage all clients assigned to you

    • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles

    • Proactive, positive communication with clients and team members

    • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills

    • Intermediate understanding of accounting and reporting standards

    • Must be eligible to work in the United States
