    Stone Ridge is seeking an Upper School Theology Teacher to begin in August 2024.

    Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. With over 750 students, and rooted in the Goals of Sacred Heart education, Stone Ridge inspires young women to lead and serve , through lives of purpose that integrate faith, intellect, community, social action, and personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.

    The Upper School Theology Teacher is responsible for teaching five sections of theology in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. Courses may include Scripture, Church History, and or Christian Morality. Working closely with colleagues, s/he creates and updates plans for content, quality, and continuity of curriculum. S/he actively collaborates with Learning Strategists and Educational Technologists to develop strategies to support all students, and s/he works with the Counseling staff in developing social-emotional programming. S/he attends all faculty and employee meetings, participates in the Social Action Program, serves as an Advisor, fulfills other faculty duties, and maintains good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports and responses to parents' inquiries.

    The ideal candidate has experience teaching theology and possesses a BA or MA in theology. An early career candidate is encouraged to apply, especially someone who has an interest in developing the pedagogy, career, and profession of education. Desired candidates should be practicing Catholics with the ability to be certified as a religion teacher in the Archdiocese of Washington. In addition, a capacity for working with a range of learning abilities and integrating educational technologies in teaching is required. Ideally, candidates are familiar with the School's pedagogical approach to instruction, Understanding by Design.

    Compensation includes salary commensurate with experience and education.
