Per Diem Pulmonary Function Technician at Norwalk HospitalRate:

Must have availability to provide as needed coverage any day(s)
Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Summary:
The Pulmonary Function Technician is responsible for all tests performed, QA, CQI, training, equipment maintenance, proficiency testing, policies and procedures development.
Responsibilities:
Responds as soon as possible to stats produces accurate well presented reports. Expedites interpretation and communicates results.
Provides technical support in other sections of medicine as needed such as Cardiology and GI Arterial Blood Gas draw and analysis.
Follows up on assignments to ensure that work is appropriately performed. Reports unusual occurrences provides adequate coverage communicates with management in a pro-active mannerEquipment supplies and facility management Criteria Maintains equipment in good working order Equipment supplies and facility management Criteria maintains clean, safe environment Equipment supplies and facility management Criteria maintain adequate supplies with fiscal accountability
Ensures that staff working in the lab or performing test are properly trained Staff training Criteria Documents competency of staff Staff training Criteria teaches students the basic of PFT testing
Provides back up for Point of Care testing Coordinator for arterial blood gas, lactate and co-oximetry testing.
Criteria Reviewing lab procedures and results and ensuring quality testing is performed Provides back up for Point of Care testing Coordinator for arterial blood gas, lactate and co-oximetry testing.
Criteria Maintaining proficiency testing for JCAHO and CAP and STATEImplements, modifies and evaluates procedures and policies in an innovative and cost effective manner
Enters charges for the Pulmonary Lab, Pulmonary Rehab and Bronchoscopy through Eclipsys.
Makes rounds daily and records emergency kit numbers. Checks kit dates for current status and replaces as necessary.
Assists the Department of Checks the contents (PSI) of the designated emergency tanks of each patient unit and replaces as necessary.
Assists the Department of Responsible for monthly environmental rounds for the Department of Pulmonary Medicine; provides manager with report of any deficiencies / violations and inputs requisitions for any necessary repairs.
Assists the Department of Presents results of monthly ABG Critical Value Result audits to manager of Pulmonary Medicine QA.Required:
Registered Cardiopulmonary Technologist RPFT
BLS
