    Project Accountant

    We are seeking an entry-level Project Accountant to join our Accounting team in the New York City metro area. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our projects' billing process, including verifying employees' chargeable time and expenses according to established accounting standards and billing policy.

    As a trusted full-service infrastructure engineering firm with over 138 years of experience, H&H has built a reputation for delivering intricate and innovative engineering solutions. Our clients rely on us to manage the entire life cycle of a project, from planning to construction. With over 600 talented employees across 30 offices nationwide, we can efficiently handle assignments of all sizes and types.

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepare invoice submissions for various government and private clients, ensuring accurate documentation and backup.
    • Maintain complete and accurate project folders with all related documents.
    • Enter budget changes and variance adjustments as needed into our company reporting system.
    • Coordinate billing procedures with branch offices.
    • Respond to client requests for supplemental reports or detailed back-up documentation.
    • Effectively communicate with project managers regarding financial project status, contract modifications, and client invoicing requirements.
    • Examine unbilled costs and unpaid invoices monthly to maximize billing and collection potential.
    • Review invoice submissions from sub-consultants to ensure compliance with contract provisions and budgetary limits.
    • Perform additional responsibilities as required by project and company needs.
    • Communicate project issues to both accounting and non-accounting staff.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, or Business Administration.
    • Zero to two years of relevant experience in Accounting, focusing on billing and contract interpretation.
    • Deltek Vision experience is preferred.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, organize workflow, and manage conflicting demands.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
    • Proficiency in computer software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook.
    • Capable self-leadership with attention to detail and ability to meet monthly billing deadlines.
    • Professional attitude and high level of integrity.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment when necessary.

    Benefits:

    We offer a competitive salary, professional work environment, benefits package, and 401(k). Salary range: $55,000-$65,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
