+This job is the second level of capitol security officer work responsible for maintaining the safety and security of patrons visitors and state employees by monitoring and protecting state property from hazards threats for various operations grounds facilities throughout the state.+

Enforces safety security orderliness in compliance with applicable policies procedures using defensive tactics devices subduing individuals bodily force chemical propellants expandable batons tasers handcuffs.+

Screens individuals entering state facilities property controls ingress egress through secure point access uses security equipment technology magnetometers x-ray machines remote access controls portable radios.+

Deters detects reports responds to security hazards threats such as fire theft trespass violence concealed weapons contraband potential prisoner escape emergencies maintains vigilant observation suspicious threatening behavior de-escalates potentially violent situations takes appropriate action anticipates need requests extra security.+
