    Job Description:


    Reporting directly to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean will provide direction for the College's growth, foster ongoing development of high-quality academic programs, support strategies to increase student success, and build relationships and collaborative partnerships internally and externally.

    The Dean will provide leadership and strategic direction for education, research, and outreach to students, faculty, alumni, and external stakeholders.

    Working collaboratively with other deans and the Provost, the Dean will advance academic excellence, encouraging, recognizing, and supporting the faculty in innovative teaching, scholarship, and service.

    The Dean will develop strategy and contacts to expand the donor pool and develop external fundraising, supervise the recruitment of faculty, and encourage interdisciplinary partnerships with other units across the University.

    Major Responsibilities of Position


    Lead the faculty and staff of the college in developing and delivering undergraduate and graduate educational programs of the highest quality, consistent with the college's mission.


    Work with faculty to articulate the college's vision and define the teaching, professional contribution, and service missions of the college.

    Advance programmatic excellence by maintaining AACSB accreditation.


    Encourage the success of our diverse students, including creating an education environment that supports belonging, retention, graduation, and career development.

    Promote the overall excellence and welfare of Radford University.

    Serve as a collaborative member of the Academic Affairs Leadership Team, the Deans Council, and in partnership with the Provost to successfully meet the university's mission and strategic goals.


    Lead the College in obtaining and managing fiscal, human, and physical resources necessary to meet the college's vision, and curricular and programmatic goals.

    Develop donor base and external fundraising.

    Represent the college to external and internal constituencies.

    Minimum Qualifications:


    Demonstrated experience in areas of curriculum and program development, student recruitment and retention, faculty recruitment and development, and/or fiscal management.

    Experience in supporting AACSB accredited programs.


    Success in generation of external funding (fund raising, grant writing) and in the development and maintenance of positive working relationships with businesses, donors, alumni, and other stakeholders.

    Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with students, faculty, staff, and administration.

    Ability to take initiative and work independently and in teams to meet the objectives of academic initiatives.

    Demonstrated excellence in teaching, professional contributions, and service befitting a tenured professor at Radford University.


    Preferred Qualifications:


    Experience in developing an industry-based experiential, work-based, and internship programs for students, in collaboration with local, regional, and national partners.

    Commitment to enhancing the well-being of Southwest Virginia and the Commonwealth of Virginia through academic engagement with community partners.


    Record of using business programs, and of collaborating with other deans, to create interdisciplinary opportunities to address the "wicked problems" facing the world, so that the College is a powerful force to create positive social change.
