    Description


    Duties and ResponsibilitiesGalleyAssist in maintaining sanitary food handling, preparation and storage methodsPerform all food preparation prior to each mealPerform all cleaning duties within the inner kitchen area and outer galley areaFollow direction of Chief Steward and First Cook in an efficient and timely mannerParticipate in the safe and efficient storage of dry, frozen and refrigerated goodsHelp to manage the rotation of food supplies in consideration of shelf life and optimum freshnessMay be responsible for opening ship store to crewmembers during the established vessel times and tracking crewmember purchases for Chief StewardFollow and maintain company-established galley rules to enhance comfort and cleanliness of all common crew areasHousekeepingPerform essential cleaning duties of common areas of the vessel, excluding galley, such as hallways, stairways, wheelhouse, boot room, walls, floors, bathrooms and showers on a daily basisProvide laundry service to all crewmembers in an efficient and timely mannerDeliver washed, dried, neatly folded clothing and linens to the appropriate crewmemberOrganize time to ensure efficient, timely laundry service, clean, sanitary bathroom and showering facilities and clean common crew areasMaintain sufficient inventory of all cleaning supplies including soap, detergent, mops, brushes, cleaning towels, and paper itemsLock and secure all supplies in storage between shiftsSupply and track cleaning supplies provided to individual crewmembersManage and organize inventory of any DVD movies, keeping accurate records of sign-in/out logsMay be responsible for opening ship store to crewmembers during the established vessel times and tracking crewmember purchases for Chief StewardPromote and maintain company-established galley rules to enhance comfort and cleanliness of all common crew areasEnsure safekeeping of all room keysEnsure restrooms are consistently stocked with all appropriate suppliesMaintain a high level of professionalism and customer service to all crewmembers at all timesSkill and Experience RequiredMinimum requirement of one year as a prep cook and/or kitchen experience in a high volume settingAbility to adapt quickly to changes in meal schedules or numbers of guestsPossess helpful and cheerful attitude when interacting with crewmembersKnowledge of food handling and sanitary health standardsCurrent state food handlers' permit requiredAbility to actively contribute in the preparation and presentation of buffet-style meals on time, at optimum temperatures and in an attractive, appealing presentation with appropriate garnishments and accompanimentsSkills in maintaining a hospitable, welcoming environmentPrevious housekeeping experience a plusAbility to work as part of a highly efficient teamPhysical AbilityAbility to pass a pre-employment and random drug testsMust be capable of boarding and exiting a vessel without physical assistance by climbing up and down a gangplank or using a Jacob's ladderMust climb or descend one or more set of steep stairs, or vertical ladders inside and outside the vessel in all weather conditions as extreme as 30 degrees below zeroAbility to repetitively lift heavy items up to 50 lbs.
