Job description
DescriptionThis position is responsible for:
Provides child care services for children ages 3 months to12 years including; assisting children with personal care and hygiene, developing learning and development activities, assisting with specialized programs; plans, develops, and teaches pre-school classes; prepares and maintains records; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of child care property.
Provides Care for Children (40%)
• Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner
• Prepares and serves children snacks and meals; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food; provides positive, relaxed atmosphere during children mealtime encouraging conversation.
• Washes children's hands and faces after morning play activities, before lunch, and again in late afternoon before parents pick up children, or before dinner, whichever comes first.
• Exhibits control of the children and when needed displays proper discipline techniques.
• Follows guidelines provided on Standards of Performance.
Maintains a Clean, Safe Environment (40%)
• Monitors and ensures the personal hygiene of the children, including toilet assistance, diapering, etc.; adheres to sanitary procedures including but not limited to labeling of cots, cribs, cubbies and storing bedding and clothing in the proper manner.
• Closes and locks windows, and turns off lights before leaving the Child Care and straightens the room before leaving each day.
• Maintains the classroom materials in an orderly fashion; maintains accountability for any laundry, money and supplies necessary for classroom programs.
• Cleans the kitchen, classrooms, high chairs, tables, floors, toys, cribs, etc. in accordance with established sanitary standards.
• Reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.
• Assists with transporting children within the Kroc Center whenever needed; ensures the safety and protection of children at all times.
Professional Development and Project Planning (10%)
• Develops and implements lesson plans which are age-group program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, enriched with program-specific activities, including teacher-made materials and hands-on activities.
• Determines appropriate supplies and materials for lesson plans and recreational activities; ensures the children's safety in utilizing the same.
• Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside learning activities.
• Organizes and supervises recreational activities; observes, monitors, and supervises children on the playground.
• Decorates rooms with up-to-date themes and seasons; prepares and maintains attractive, entertaining, and educational bulletin boards.
• Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.).
• Attends and participates in regularly scheduled in-service training sessions.
Builds Relationships (10%)
• Builds and maintains effective and positive relationships with parents; informs parents of children's progress and specific incidents.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- High school diploma or G.E.D. required AND
- Two years' experience teaching child development programs in a church or pre-school OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
