Origin Specialty Underwriters ("Origin") is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as the Vice President of Actuarial & Analytics.
At Origin,we aim to be the nation's preferred specialty insurance provider for small and mid-sized risks.
We provide insurance product solutions that protect against risk with our deep understanding of client needs and a willingness to redefine the boundaries of industry standards.
This position offers the opportunity to lead in actuarial pricing strategies and analytics across multiple programs and lines of business.
Responsibilities:
·
Conduct actuarial reviews for Origin's programs which span various industries and lines of business.
·
Gather and analyze program-specific data from multiple sources to support actuarial pricing decisions.
·
Possess a deep understanding of actuarial methods, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and applying them appropriately.
·
Develop and assess actuarial risk models tailored to individual program needs.
·
Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to management and actively engage in program partner and stakeholder interactions.
·
Collaborate closely with affiliated actuarial pricing team, fostering a spirit of teamwork and supporting colleagues in achieving shared goals.
·
Handle confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.
·
Meet productivity and efficiency standards, ensuring timely completion of projects and tasks.
·
Undertake special projects, delivering results within defined timeframes with minimal supervision.
·
Apply Actuarial Standards of Practice rigorously in all tasks and projects.
Requirements:
·
Bachelor's degree in mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
·
Associate of Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) or Fellow of Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) designation.
·
Five or more years of experience, particularly in an actuarial pricing role.
·
Commercial Lines experience is preferred with specific liquor liability or restaurant coverage being a plus.
·
Prior facultative or treaty reinsurance experience would be a plus.
·
Demonstrated initiative, positivity, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-demand work environment.
·
Strong organizational skills, adaptability to change and ambiguity, solution-oriented mindset, and resourcefulness.
·
Effective communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to personal integrity.
·
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
·
Programming experience in languages such as SQL, VBA, Python.
