ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES This position is in support of programs related to system development
The selected candidate will work in a structured, multidisciplinary team environment in Huntsville, AL
The candidate will develop comprehensive documentation pertaining to the systems that we deliver to our customers
Communicating this information in a simple, concise manner will be crucial as we continue to provide quality products to our customers
Research, outline, write, and edit content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements Gather information from subject-matter experts and develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation Work with development and support leads to identify documentation repositories, revise, and edit, and determine best solutions for data compilation and centralized storage
Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that adhere to organizational and legal standards and allow for easy data migration Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with consistent voice across all documentation QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Associate's degree (or equivalent)
Bachelor's degree is preferred
Can substitute four or more years of experience as an effective technical writer for college degree Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences Superb written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail Experience in working with engineers to improve user experience (ex: design, UI), refine content, and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously PREFERRED SKILLS Experience in electrical/mechanical schematic reading Applicants selected will be United States citizens subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
