Hino assembles medium-duty trucks at its Mineral Wells, West Virginia plant. Its manufacturing facilities in Marion, Arkansas produces axles, knuckles and suspension components. Hino's Parts Distribution Center in Mira Loma, California supplies Latin American and Caribbean distributors with genuine Hino service parts.
We are currently seeking a S upplier Quality Engineer
for our Supplier Preparation and Development (SPD) department located at Headquarters in Novi, MI reporting directly to the Manager, SPD.
This position is responsible for pre-production (including prototype stage), production of supplier parts by means of securing delivery and quality to our manufacturing plants and will review manufacturing processes and recommend improvements.
Responsibilities:
Track overall supplier program progress
Coordinate between Design (Engineering) Departments and Suppliers with preparation scheduling to track supplier prototype parts preparation to enable on time delivery of parts for prototype build
Track supplier production preparation, coordinate progress of supplier(s) relating departments: quality, engineering, production control to realize smooth launch
Visit suppliers to confirm existing manufacturing processes, recommend process improvement ideas, and confirm readiness of off tool/ off process parts prior to launch
Visit suppliers to confirm correction production procedures are being followed post launch
Report and visualize progress of supplier production preparation and development
Monitor and Track supplier performance
Report out supplier performance for distribution to suppliers and management on a monthly basis
Maintain supplier performance data
Support suppliers on issues to include production, quality, and delivery concerns
Offer recommendations to Purchasing for direction regarding supplier capability
Complete assignments on time and accurately
Other duties as required
Required Education & Experience to be successful in this position:
BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical preferred)
3-5 years of industrial design, experiment, quality control or manufacturing engineering
Experience working in a manufacturing environment with TQM, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, DOE, and SPC
Experience working for an automotive company preferred
Board Visualization
Ability to complete assignments on time and accurately
Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and motivate/inspire others
Working knowledge of technical materials to include drawings, testing data, inspection data, statistics data, and industrial standards
Report writing
Analytical skills
Understanding of manufacturing process
Strong proficiency in MS Office - Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to travel nationally and internationally (USA & Canada): 20 – 30%
