    We are currently looking for Safety Performance Engineer to join our team in Farmington Hills. This position will be responsible for vehicle safety performance for our vehicles produced in the North American region, with an emphasis on FMVSS, US NCAP, IIHS, ECE and LatinNCAP. This position is on the front-line of developing safe vehicles that will help enable our work toward a vision to reach zero traffic related fatalities.

    Primary job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Occupant injury and structural performance planning, testing and evaluation
    • Setting vehicle level and component level safety performance requirements (energy absorption, peak force, etc.)
    • Creating vehicle safety test plans, analyzing test data, inspecting crash test vehicles, making judgments through data and facts and reporting results for vehicle safety related requirements
    • Interfacing with internal engineering departments (Restraints Design, Body Design, Chassis Design, Interior Trim Design, etc.) and external departments (Product Planning, Product Safety, Government Affairs, etc.) to ensure that overall vehicle safety as well as component level performance targets are set correctly and achieved
    • These responsibilities span the full vehicle development process: from digital development, to physical testing, start of production, and continuous life cycle.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelors Degree in Engineering Required (Mechanical Engineering highly preferred, Biomedical and electrical are acceptable)
    • 1 - 3 years of engineering experience preferred
    • Automotive engineering experience, CAD, and knowledge of vehicle safety crash-worthiness requirements (FMVSS, NCAP, IIHS) is preferred
    • Strong data analysis, attention to detail, logical problem solving, and effective communication skills required
    • Experience with data analysis using software such as DIAdem, Altair HyperWorks, and motion analysis software is valuable but not mandatory
    • Strong skills in Microsoft Office
