    Description

    Task List

    • Review emails
    • Check the incident queue (JIRA) and assignments - what can be done and reviewed
    • Provision network device circuits
    • Work with ISP providers
    • Pass over to activation
    • Understand end-to-end hardware
    • Explore how fiber operates and connects throughout the entire Data Center (DC)
    • Manage tasks and incidents
    • Assign patch panel demarcation points
    • Handle tickets in the queue
    • Be responsive and proactive about automation opportunities and process enhancements
    • Respond to inquiries and attend meetings promptly
    • Familiarity with a programming language would be beneficial (e.g., Python)
    • Show proactive initiative

    Fiber Management Tasks

    • Coordinate fiber cable delivery to site and necessary circuits - in case of issues, contact the provider for full life cycle management
    • Understand the pathway of fiber from external to internal building spaces
    • Work with ISP providers - DC knowledge - Fiber - SOP receivers - patch panels - Meet Me Rooms (MMR's) - backbone

    Interconnect Tasks

    • Interconnect
    • Meet Me Room
    • Meet Me Vault
    • Provisioning
    • Collaborate with other carriers - if issues arise, test with alternate carriers
    • Utilize Fiber distribution map - Detailed Location Records (DLR's)
    • Determine the fiber demarcation point from carrier XYZ
    • Perform testing and turn up procedures
    • Identify points for circuit troubleshooting
    • Understand optic components and passive filters

    Circuit Provisioning

    • Coordinate Circuit Ordering
    • Perform Test Turn Up
    • Conduct Break/Fix activities

    Working with Fiber Carriers

    • Maintain vendor relationships
    • Understand systems and portals used by carriers
    • Review service request sheets - complete based on circuits - 100 Gig
    • Work with Ethernet, DWDM technologies
    • Explore MMR, Patch Panel, and Co-located spaces

    Understanding of DLC, FOC, CLR

    • Engage with key stakeholders
    • Create and review Circuit layout reports
    • Utilize database for fiber distribution panel visualization and network mapping

    Nice to Have

    1. Experience in a Data Center environment
    2. Previous roles as a Network Engineer
