    Business System Analyst Overview

    • The Senior Business Systems Analyst determines business requirements by working with business clients and recommends appropriate business system applications
    • Recommends systems criteria and project scope
    • Identifies potential problems, performs analysis and implements system enhancements, modifications and upgrades
    • Plans and consults with business client on data reporting and trending reports
    • Oversees the design and development of user system documentation
    • Primary contact to define business system requirements and functional requirements documents
    • Performs investigation, evaluation and documentation of system design findings
    • Tracks systems performance and reviews problem logs
    • Evaluates and analyzes coded data elements and recommends changes needed
    • Assures that users understand business system functions
    • Performs System testing and assists in User Acceptance Testing
    • Works with appropriate training departments to assure technical information is accurately presented
    • Mentors Junior resources in the team.
    Business System Analyst Qualifications:
    • This Business System Analyst role within the Data Warehouse team requires experience in creating Business Requirement Documents, Functional Requirement Documents and Mapping documents for the development of ETL applications. This role requires extensive SQL experience in writing complex queries across multiple tables, data analysis and profiling skills for the creation of the mapping documents and further discussion with data modelers for the necessary table designs.
    • The ideal candidate should have all of the above skills at expert level along with strong verbal and written communication skills to work with various stakeholders, gather and formulate business requirements and translate the same to the technical team.
    • Other preferred experience includes Source-to-Target mapping, health insurance knowledge and general data warehousing. The candidate will also be comfortable enough to support testing, production readiness verification and ensuring accuracy after the deployments.
    • A minimum of five years' experience in working as Business Systems Analyst
    • Strong data analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Data Warehouse experience is highly preferred.
    • Working knowledge of at least one database product (Teradata, DB2, Oracle, or other).
    • Experience in writing SQL (Structured Query Language) statements.
    • Experience in writing Functional requirements and source to target mapping.
    • Understanding of data integration and ETL methodologies.
    • Exposure to at least one Health Care business area, such as Actuarial, Finance, Underwriting, Claims Processing, Enrollment, or Provider preferred.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Effective facilitation and presentation skills are necessary to demonstrate business systems solutions in a clear and concise manner.
    • Demonstrated ability to define business systems solutions, make decisions, identify problems, coordinate resources, and implement changes.
    • Excellent teamwork.
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
    • Ability to learn new or existing systems quickly.
    • Ability to work independently on multiple projects.
    • Accountable for adherence to program and project management standards.
