    Description


    The Director of Risk Management will manage all aspects of risk within the operations to ensure the safety of associates, the protection of assets, and the mitigation of potential risk.

    This position is crucial for maintaining a safe and secure working environment, minimizing risk, and protecting the warehouse's assets and associates.

    Prevention of financial losses due to theft, fraud, or other security threats.


    This is a highly visible role for our organization and this individual must be an initiative-taker with a sense of urgency.

    The role requires you to effectively build relationships at all levels of the organization while providing exceptional support to our Operational leaders.

    To be successful, the leader will need to demonstrate leadership skills by being proactive in problem solving and finding solutions.

    Experience implementing change in a dynamic and growth environment - a plus. Prior experience with 3PL, Retail, Distribution, Reverse Logistics/E-Commerce and/or startup experience a plus.


    Job Summary:

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Manage and administer risk management, loss prevention, safety policies, and procedures efficiently and cost-effectively.
    • Conduct risk assessments and identify risks associated with warehouse activities, safety, loss prevention, and processes. Implement risk management strategies to minimize the impact of identified risks.
    • Coordinates all incident investigations and leads loss prevention investigations, including theft of goods and money. Analyze data and other related information for potential loss prevention and fraud risks. Assure an effective incident prevention program is maintained, and appropriate measures are taken.
    • Keep abreast of, advise management, and ensure compliance with State and Federal laws, rules, and regulations, such as OSHA. Stay up to date on industry trends.
    • Provide staff with training and guidance on risk management practices and protocols. Lead investigative and verbal de-escalation training and facilitate other training for your AP team as needed. Develop, coach, and lead your team members and Team Leaders (if applicable) to elevate their skills and expertise.
    • Keep the company Contingency Plan for emergency situations updated.
    • Guide departments regarding liability, workers compensation, risk issues and contract administration.
    • Serve as a member of a coordinated Loss Prevention team, relentlessly pursuing improvements to company-wide loss prevention program efforts. Function as a key resource for company initiatives for the AP team. Manage, influence, and validate a safe and secure culture by driving physical security, leading warehouse response and emergency crisis situations, and creating event plans.
    • Encourage and promote Loss Prevention within the workforce by exercising integrity and ethical methods.
    • Implement security measures to protect physical assets and facilities, such as surveillance systems, access controls, and alarm systems.
    • Develop, schedule, and deploy resources based on safe, secure, and theft trends.
    • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
    • Manage relationships with vendors, law enforcement agencies, and other external partners to enhance efforts.

    Conduct contract reviews:
    audit to assess contract performance, compliance, and effectiveness.


    • All other duties based on business needs.

    Skills and Qualifications:


    Professional certifications for Risk Management such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Risk Analyst (CRA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Professional Risk Manager (PRM), etc.

    is a plus.


    • A bachelor's degree in risk management, finance, economics, business management, or a related field is preferred. 10+ years of progressive experience in risk management or a related field is also required.
    • Must work well in a demanding environment.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, other agencies, and the public.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Plan, organize, and supervise the work of others.
    • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills. Bilingual preferred (English & Spanish).
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Strong business acumen.
    • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity.
    • Manage conflict, lead, and hold others accountable.
    • Relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization.
    • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis.
    • Learn and adapt to current technology needs.
    • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
    • Solid experience in executing and strategy for Loss Prevention activities for a physical site.

    • Navigate within the warehouse to operate machinery and utilize other equipment.
    • Endure extended periods of standing and may occasionally need to walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift or move objects weighing up to fifty pounds.
    • This job requires specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
    • Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.
    • Interpret instructions, reports, and information.
    • Apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy.
    • Scan, manage, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to fifty pounds.
    • Climb up and down ladders.
    • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays) and regular attendance are necessary.
