    Summary:

    The Safety Manager plays a key role in the organization to monitor, train and update the Company-wide safety program, with a primary focus on loss and injury prevention. This includes tracking for compliance, inspecting for deficiencies, making recommendations for improvement, while considering specific industry operational challenges and federal, state and local regulating and enforcement agencies. Partners and supports the Risk Manager by investigating property & injury claims for appropriate and expeditious closure. This position serves as a critical resource and advocate to all Team Members and Company representatives.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Serve as a direct point of contact for Team Members seeking safety partnership/consultation with regards to key risk and safety processes, policies, and programs.
    • Respond to Team Member inquiries relative to safety standards, policies/procedures, compliance & reporting.
    • Manage all State & Federal safety compliance and reporting requirements.
    • Travel to Company retail & service locations or on a set rotation schedule (may include occasional overnight travel to distant territories) to conduct site & vehicle safety inspections, provide on-site safety training, ensure program adherence, inform and document discrepancies with location Team Members.
    • Responsible for conducting and reporting store safety ratings for Operations and senior leadership to review.
    • Address potential hazard and loss concerns at each location by suggesting appropriate corrective action, working with maintenance and operations management.
    • Partner with the manager of all DOT drivers to ensure safety & compliance: monitor driver safety scores utilizing Motive, coach drivers on safe driving behaviors & maintain documentation of all coaching events, assist in maintaining DOT driver paperwork, DOT regulation enforcement, etc.
    • Partner with Risk Manager to ensure OSHA/THHS/Fire code regulation adherence (i.e., OSHA 300 Logs, OSHA mandated training, Fire Marshall Inspections)
    • Participate in regular meetings & programs with the Company's Captive Insurance program. This includes a regular review of Company performance in various designated safety & DOT metrics, sharing Company and industry best practices, developing action plans in accordance with Captive requirements, implementing suggested programs, etc.
    • Serve as the on-call person for serious safety related issues. Safety Manager may have to respond to location if the incident is of a high level/serious nature.
    • Oversee and prepare any identified safety hazards correction plans or safety proposals to position the organization in a positive manner.
    • Responsible for the coordination, tracking of Safety Data Sheets & ensure annual OSHA training requirements are met for all Team Members on Hazard Communication, SDS and Bloodborne Pathogens, etc.
    • Develop & lead Company Safety Committee for all Toot'n Totum divisions; identify necessary structure to support safety operations at the field level. This includes leading & facilitating regular safety meetings with a defined purpose & roadmap of priorities to provide a comprehensive safety program to support all business operations.
    • Conduct Quarterly Safety meetings with designated field personnel to discuss safety & risk trends, opportunities for improvements and new items.
    • Responsible to maintain, revise and make recommendations as needed to safety programs, to include Natural Disaster & Emergency Response planning, Driver Safety, Guest & Team Member safety, Electrical safety, etc.
    • Partner with the Risk Manager to maintain, regularly update and test the Company's Emergency Action Plans.
    • May conduct classroom style safety training for managers, new hires and other Team Members as needed.
    • Develop and champion a Safety Recognition Program; ensure the program is recognized annually to promote a safety culture and awareness in the organization.
    • Partner with Risk Manager to respond 24/7 to Team Member & Guest injury notifications, investigate root cause of injury as needed.
    • Partner with IT to utilize digital recording systems i.e., DVR to assist with claims, operations investigations and local authority inquiries.
    • Coordinate both semiannual and annual fire alarms for all Toot'n Totum sites.
    • Responsible to coordinate setup/startup of safety compliance program for new stores: serve as a resource, coach & mentor for field personnel and safety committee members, order safety supplies & PPE for stores as needed.
    • Maintain SharePoint with the updated forms and information for Safety.
    • Develop new ideas to help improve the safety for all stores and drivers; identify threats to the business and recommend effective solutions.
    • Other duties or special projects as assigned.
    • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in Safety & DOT compliance.
    • Establish and foster relationships with management, new hires, Team Members and the Human Resources team that enables the HR function to be viewed as an integral part of the business.

    Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree or related course of study;
    • A minimum of four years' professional experience in a corporate safety role;
    • Or equivalent combination of education or experience.
    • Working knowledge of local/state/federal safety regulations, including but not limited to Fire marshals, OSHA, THHS, and Homeland Security.
    • DOT knowledge is strongly preferred.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Regularly stand; sit; walk; drive; may have prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must use hands to finger, handle or feel objects; use tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
    • Frequently required to climb or balance; stoop or kneel and crouch. Regularly lift and or move up to 15 pounds. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
    • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme cold and/or heat.
    • The Team Member occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
