    UMKC's nationally recognized Vision Research Center (VRC) is dedicated to advancing and promoting optimal vision health in the community and worldwide.

    The VRC is an innovative research organization that integrates interdisciplinary collaborative research teams from the Departments of Ophthalmology and Biomedical Sciences at the School of Medicine, as well as faculty from the School of Pharmacy.

    The faculty of the VRC focus on developing new treatment strategies to deter visual damage and employ research advances that may restore vision to patients suffering end stage diseases.

    Job Description


    The Vision Research Center of the School of Medicine seeks a ranked Assistant or Associate Research Professor with research success and potential in Ocular Regenerative Medicine.

    The successful candidate will provide evidence and/or aptitude for externally funded projects focused primarily on regeneration in the field of visual neuroscience, regenerative genetic therapy science, development and transplantation of bio-artificial ocular tissue, or other retinal cell regenerative medical science.


    The Assistant/Associate Research Professor will join a well-known and highly successful team of vision research faculty engaged in pioneering collaborative discoveries and publication of the same.

    Qualifications


    • MD or PhD (or other doctoral degree) in a field of science relative to research in ocular regenerative medicine
    • At least 2 years experience working in a research group focused on eye / vision research
    • Extensive experience in lab based experimentation in ocular regenerative medical science, cell-based therapy development or cyto-therapy
    • Demonstrated success or potential for success in obtaining external funding as Principal Investigator or co-Investigator, which lead to publications and presentations as author or co-author.
    Anticipated Hiring Range

    Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience, rank and credentials.

    This is a 12-month, full-time, benefit-eligible ranked non-tenure track faculty position. This ranked position provides opportunity for ranked promotion.
