    Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Cost Accountant

    Location: Detroit, Michigan

    Job Type: Full-Time, On-site (3+ days a week)

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manufacturing Cost Accountant to join our dynamic team in Monroe, Michigan. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of cost accounting within our manufacturing operations. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, cost analysis, and financial reporting in the manufacturing industry. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in optimizing our cost structures, enhancing financial controls, and supporting decision-making processes.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Cost Analysis and Reporting:
      • Conduct in-depth cost analysis to identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
      • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to manufacturing costs.
      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant data and insights.
    2. Variance Analysis:
      • Perform variance analysis to understand the differences between actual and budgeted/forecasted costs.
      • Investigate and report on significant variances, providing actionable recommendations.
    3. Inventory Management:
      • Oversee the valuation and reconciliation of inventory accounts.
      • Implement and maintain effective inventory control processes.
      • Collaborate with production and supply chain teams to optimize inventory levels.
    4. Standard Costing:
      • Develop and maintain standard costing models for products.
      • Update and revise standard costs as needed, considering changes in production processes and material costs.
    5. Financial Planning and Budgeting:
      • Work closely with the finance team to contribute to the annual budgeting process.
      • Provide input and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
    6. Compliance and Internal Controls:
      • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies.
      • Establish and maintain effective internal controls related to manufacturing costs.
    7. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
      • Collaborate with production, supply chain, and finance teams to gather and analyze relevant data.
      • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on cost-related goals.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
    • 3+ years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
    • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, cost analysis, and financial reporting.
    • Strong proficiency in ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate effectively.
