    Staff Nurse (RN) Role in the Emergency Department

    Anne Arundel Medical Center seeks a dedicated RN to provide high-quality patient care.

    Position Summary

    This Staff Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional patient care in the emergency department. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for providing compassionate care.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide direct and indirect patient care, prioritizing tasks based on patient needs.
    • Demonstrate clinical nursing knowledge and skill in the specialization of the unit.
    • Develop and implement individualized plans of care, addressing physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and learning needs.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans, making revisions as necessary.

    Clinical Decision Making/Judgment

    • Assess patients to collect data and identify learning needs according to established standards.
    • Utilize a systematic analysis of assessment data to develop individualized problem lists.
    • Implement patient care plans efficiently, adhering to applicable standards and guidelines.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in medication administration, pain management, and other unit-specific skills.

    Nurse-Patient Family Relationships

    • Assess patient learning needs, readiness to learn, and presence of barriers to learning.
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate teaching plans for patient populations.
    • Apply knowledge of growth and development across the life span to patient care.
    • Provide culturally sensitive and ethically appropriate care.

    Clinical Scholarship

    • Participate in quality improvement, continuous process improvement, and risk management activities.
    • Sustain a safe practice environment by following evidence-based guidelines and organizational policies.

    Clinical Leadership

    • Contribute to unit shared governance.
    • Support the education and orientation of new staff members.
    • Delegate patient care activities effectively.

    Educational/Experience Requirements

    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
    • Meet credentialing requirements of Anne Arundel Medical Center.

    Required Licenses/Certifications

    • Current licensure as a registered nurse in Maryland.
    • CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
    • ACLS certification within one year of hire.

    Working Conditions

    This role may involve exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Physical demands include exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 30 pounds frequently.
