    Actuarial Analyst

    BH GUARD currently offers an excellent opportunity for an Actuarial Analyst to join the Actuarial Department at Berkshire Hathaway Guard Insurance Companies. The position can be located in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Philadelphia, PA, or New York, NY.

    We are looking for someone with a minimum of 2 years of actuarial experience with exposure to commercial lines preferred. This position supports the organization's key actuarial functions through conducting analysis, providing valuable insights, and developing and maintaining actuarial processes.

    Multiple positions are available on the Pricing and Reserving teams. Placement within the Actuarial Department will be determined by business need and candidate experience. Consideration will be given for candidates who meet the qualifications of Senior Actuarial Analyst

    Responsibilities
    • Complete basic actuarial analysis related to pricing or reserving.
    • Collaborate within the team to develop and maintain actuarial tools and processes to improve the quality and efficiency of actuarial analyses.
    • Implement methodology enhancements and process efficiencies within the department.
    • Maintain appropriate documentation that allows another actuarial staff member to understand and recreate the work product.
    • Assist with industry research and studies to support actuarial projects.
    • Perform basic data preparation, balancing, and reasonability checks using SQL or other data tools to support actuarial analyses and reporting requirements.
    • Analyze data and trends to uncover solutions to business challenges.
    • Create actuarial reports summarizing analysis results and communicate within the department.
    • Grow and develop team members as appropriate through peer review.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or another field with a rigorous mathematics background.
    • Two to five years of actuarial experience and successful completion of two or more actuarial exams of the Casualty Actuarial Society. Commercial lines experience preferred.
    • Will consider candidates who meet the qualifications for Senior Actuarial Analyst.
    • Results-oriented with the ability to multi-task and adjust priorities when necessary.
    • Strong technical skills including Microsoft Excel and programming required.
    • Experience with relational databases required. Experience with SQL preferred.

    Salary Range:

    $80,000.00-$110,000.00 USD with performance based bonus potential.

    The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices 3-4 days per week and also be available for travel as required. The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
