    Senior R&D Engineer - Rigid Plastics Packaging SIGNING BONUS Negotiable

    Position Summary:

    We are excited to present an opportunity with our award-winning client, a leader in the industry, for the role of Senior R&D Engineer in Rigid Plastics Packaging. As a subject matter expert in plastic materials and processes, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation and sustainable solutions. Your technical expertise in polymer science, coatings, extrusion, and thermoforming, combined with your problem-solving skills, will be key to identifying and developing new thermoplastic materials and processes. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers to achieve performance objectives while fostering a positive and safe work environment.

    Responsibilities:
    • Utilize your in-depth knowledge of plastic materials and additives to address internal and external customer needs within a manufacturing context.
    • Develop creative and cost-effective solutions for new and existing packaging challenges involving materials and processes.
    • Generate novel ideas to support R&D product innovation and technology strategy.
    • Manage the technical aspects of projects, collaborating with suppliers, cross-functional teams, and customers to ensure performance criteria are met.
    • Act as a catalyst for a motivated and engaged R&D organization, driving desired results.
    • Cultivate a positive work environment through open communication and teamwork, in adherence to safety policies.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Polymer Science, Plastics Engineering, Chemistry; Master's degree preferred.
    • 5+ years of relevant experience, with a strong technical background in plastics, resins, coatings, and laminates, including expertise in material analysis and testing.
    • Proficiency in extrusion, thermoforming, and injection molding, with a focus on consumer-based food packaging.
    • Proven results-driven approach with a proactive and ownership-driven attitude.
    • Curious and up-to-date with emerging technologies in and beyond the industry.
    • Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and a positive attitude.
    • Track record of leading projects across different organizational functions.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and technical acumen.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Thrives in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
    • Highly organized and self-motivated with a hands-on work ethic.
