    Description

    The Bronx District Attorney is committed to serving the 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community through the Office's groundbreaking mission of "Pursuing Justice with Integrity" by fulfilling our duty to victims and providing fairness to defendants.

    The Bronx District Attorney is seeking an experienced attorney (3+ years) to handle post-conviction litigation, including direct appeals, motion responses, and federal writs of habeas corpus.


    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Represent the People of the State of New York in appellate litigation on a wide range of constitutional and statutory law issues

    Address complex legal issues clearly and effectively in oral and written format

    Brief and argue a substantial caseload of appeals before the state and federal courts

    All other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications

    A Juris Doctorate degree, 3+ years of appellate attorney experience or the equivalent

    US Citizenship and New York State Residency are required as of first day of employment

    Strong writing, research, and analytical skills

    Ability to work independently and effectively under deadlines

    Must understand and respond clearly and effectively (oral/written) to complex legal issues

    Ability to work nights, holidays, and weekends as needed

    Excellent presentation and organizational skills

    Ability to exercise good judgment and strong ethics

    Ability to analytically solve issues or problems from inception through conclusion

    Residency Requirement

    New York State Residency is REQUIRED on the first day of employment.
